“An unknown number of copies of the 1988 Australian White Label Records release (with the catalogue number L38925) were acquired by the independent New Zealand Festival Records company for distribution in that country. The Dominion release was given its own Festival catalogue number (L 19450) and barcode. These were applied as a sticker on the back cover, and deliberately obscured the Australian Festival catalogue number. NB: The barcode applied to this release begins with 039, indicating that it was registered with the Australian branch of the global standards body. This is not evidence of Australia-only release, however. The decision to apply a barcode to the Australian-made cover was likely undertaken by Festival Records Australia in order to distinguish the New Zealand-bound albums from the ones distributed in Australia. Although Machinations undertook tours through New Zealand on several occasions, including as support to David Bowie during his 1983 Australasian tour, the band was not regarded as high profile there. None of their releases, for example, made any significant impact on the New Zealand charts. For this reason the New Zealand distribution saw the album discounted to a recommended price of NZD$9.99.
