“First pressing, label variant with the original address "117 W. 46 St., N.Y.C." at the top, and "Custom molded by Plastylite" at the bottom. This version repeats the full address for the copyright statement on the fourth line. ([r=2880654] shortens the address to "NYC, USA" and has minor typesetting/spacing differences, while later versions of the label have the second address and do not mention Plastylite.) Please note that there can be considerable variation in how the labels are centered and trimmed (see Images) but the design is the same and such variations do not indicate different versions. "Deep groove" blue labels with silver printing. [l328679] pressing identified by stamped cursive P or "ear" logo in runouts. Pressed on heavyweight vinyl. Issued with 4 page folded insert and a smaller mail-order form. Recorded at 2803 Hadley St., Houston, TX, USA, January 16, 1959 by Samuel B. Charters using Ampex Equipment, with an EV 636 microphone.”

“Label variation. The following attributes differentiate this version from the other 1965 mono release, [r4124577]: - small pressing ring - the album title, The Roots Of "Lightnin' " Hopkins, appears on two lines rather than one - the artist's name "Lightnin' " Hopkins is printed at the bottom of the label instead of underneath the title - the word "Penitentiary"is correctly spelled on the label for track A1 as is "Reminiscences" on B2; both are mis-spelled on the label of other version It's quite likely that the two 1965 mono versions were pressed at different plants, the identity of which could not be determined at the time these submissions were originally made.”
