“Willie and the Poor Boys is a band formed by Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman in 1985. The name alludes to the 1969 album Willy and the Poor Boys by Creedence Clearwater Revival. At a time when the Rolling Stones were working less together, while Mick Jagger rehearsed more on solo projects, Bill Wyman formed the band, which included his colleague Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones as drummer and Andy Fairweather Low, who had become known in 1960 with Amen Corner. In the recording of this only album they were supported by well-known colleagues such as Ray Cooper, Jimmy Page, Willie Garnett, Chris Rea, Steve Gregory, Paul Rodgers, Kenney Jones, Henry Spinetti and Terry Williams. Musicians Mickey Gee and Geraint Watkins, who also belonged to the band, were active as studio musicians. The proceeds from the sale were donated to the charity A.R.M.S. (Action for Research into Multiple Sclerosis) for the study of multiple sclerosis. The album was also accompanied by a video of the same name.”
