Recorded at the Five Spot Café, New York City; August 1958. Blue/silver “reel & mic” Riverside label with “Bill Grauer Productions, Inc., New York City” printed along the lower rim. Deep-groove impression on both sides. Pressed at Abbey Record Manufacturing (identified by “AB” etched in the runouts). Etched matrices derived from earlier 1960 metal parts, making this a repress of that edition. Laminated front jacket with matte back shows the 553 West 51st Street, New York 19, N.Y. address. Liner notes mention the Five Spot’s closing in 1962, and the back slick lists later Riverside titles up through Two Hours with Thelonious – European Concerts (9460-61) and Thelonious Monk’s Greatest Hits (9421), confirming a circa 1963 printing. Issued around 1963, following Riverside’s incorporation but before the Orpheum period. Deep groove both sides.
