"Warszawskie Smyczki" - świetny zespół muzyków Filharmonii Narodowej zorganizowany i prowadzony od 1957 roku przez Marka Sewena, altowiolinistę, kompozytora i aranżera - zajmuje szczególnie ważną pozycję w ruchu koncertowym kraju. Spośród wielu zespołów muzyki lekkiej, orkiestra Sewena wyróżnia się doskonałym wykonawstwem i oryginalną instrumentacją, pozwalającą na uzyskanie znakomitych efektów przy niewielkim aparacie orkiestrowym. Liczne koncerty estradowe z udziałem najwybitniejszych solistów, gwiazd polskiej piosenki, oraz nagrania radiowe i płytowe - zapewniły zespołowi w szybkim czasie wielką popularność. Marek Sewen przedstawił też słuchaczom godną uwagi propozycję popularyzacji muzyki, wykonując znane i powszechnie lubiane utwory klasyków i romantyków w nowych aranżacjach o zdecydowanej pulsacji rytmicznej, nadając im nowy kształt i fascynując nowością pomysłów. Ta forma prezentacji utworów ma już dawne tradycje i Marek Sewen może poszczycić się znakomitymi poprzednikami, żeby wymienić tylko słynną orkiestrę Mantovaniego. Duże powodzenie ostatnich koncertów zespołu potwierdziło również trafność wyboru jego koncepcji artystycznej. Odbiciem tej koncepcji jest repertuar niniejszej płyty, będącej wyborem ulubionych miniatur muzycznych różnych epok historycznych, poczynając od słynnej Arii na strunie G Bacha, poprzez prześliczną Kukułkę Daquina, Für Elise Beethovena po bliskie każdemu melomanowi utwory niemieckich romantyków: Schumanna i Schuberta, popularne kompozycje Brahmsa I Saint-Saënsa. Założeniem aranżera Marka Sewena było przedstawienie tych utworów w tanecznych rytmach południowo-amerykańskich, w formie zamkniętego koncertu "non stop". W efekcie otrzymujęmy płytę " W pogodnym nastroju" w której niewątpliwie każdy słuchacz znajdzie wiele przyjemności. "Warsaw Strings" is excellent group of musicans from National Philharmonic, organised and led since 1957 by Marek Sewen who plays the altiviola and is composer and arranger. The group holds an especially important position in the concert movement throughout the country. Swewn's orchestra is outstanding thanks to its excellent performance and original instrumentation which allows a small orchestra to achieve fine effect. The group very quickly gained great popularity thanks to a number of stage concerts in which the best soloist and Polish singing stars took part and thanks to radio transmissions and the cutting of records. Marek Sewen offered his listeners an interesting proposal on popularising music: together with his orchestra he performs known and generally liked works of the classic and romantic composers in new arrangements with a strong rhythmic pulsation; he gives them new shape and his ever new ideas are fascinating. This form of presenting compositions has its old traditions and Marek Sewen can boast of distinguished predecessors, to mention only the famous Mantovani orchestra. The immense popularity of the ensemble's latest concerts confirms that the choice of artistic conceptions was right. The compositions on this record reflect these conceptions, they are a chice of favourite musical miniatures from various historical periods, from Bach's famous Aria On The G String, through Daquin's lovely Cuckoo, Bethoven's Für Elise to the works of the German romantic composers known so well to every music lover, those of Schumann and Schubert and the popular compositions of Brahms and Saint-Saens. Marek Sewen's chief aim as the arranger is to present these compositions in south-American dance rhythms, in the form of a closed "non-stop" concert. The effect is a record "in a pleasant mood", which every listener will be sure to enjoy.
