Mr. Magic sold out all 500 copies, but instead of repressing the 45, Mr. Magic heeded the advice of a Bridgeport promoter who warned him that he might get sued by Brunswick Records for his wholesale theft of Vaughn Mason’s current hit. So for the 12" release, he re-recorded the track with his childhood friends in the Positive Choice Band. This is one of the first rap songs to feature sampling.
