Sound Technique

Sound Technique was a mastering and lacquer cutting studio in New York City, started by Gladys Hopkowitz in April/May of 1981. Hopkowitz purchased the Mastertone's cutting studio to open her own shop. The studio closed in August 1992 and was sold to The Hit Factory. Some runout etches that can help identify lacquers cut at Sound Technique: SOUND TECHNIQUE NY S.T. SoT Soc 5oC (S looks like a 5) 6oT (S looks like a 6) Often followed by a cutting date M-YY, e.g. 5-83 Please use Sound Technique, Inc. when explicitly credited, e.g. on covers.
