Multifunctional educational and production center for sound recording and sound engineering.
Publishing and educational activities include the release of compact discs with archival and modern recordings from its collection under the Moscow Conservatory Records label. By 2017, the catalog of its own audio publications included more than 200 compact discs. The Center's media library contains over 30 thousand records, about 7 thousand magnetic tapes, more than 20 thousand compact discs, over 26 thousand MP3 files (for streaming), more than 1.8 thousand digital cassettes (DAT), more than 10 Tb of audio information on a media server, 450 video cassettes (VHS) and 500 DVDs.
The original recordings produced by the Center are the most significant part of the collection in cultural and historical terms, having enduring cultural, scientific and historical significance. It contains:
unique phonograms from concerts of great Russian and foreign musicians of the 20th century - V. V. Sofronitsky, E. G. Gilels, D. F. Oistrakh, S. T. Richter, L. Stokowski, J. Ormandy, M. Long, I. Menuhin, G. Gould and many others;
recordings (the so-called "methodological obligations"), which outstanding performers and teachers of the conservatory were obliged to leave for its fund for the benefit of professional development and improvement of students. Among the authors of these audio teaching aids are S. E. Feinberg, V. V. Sofronitsky, G. R. Ginzburg, G. G. Neuhaus, S. G. Neuhaus and other outstanding masters;
recordings of open lessons in the classes of many remarkable performers and teachers of the conservatory;
recordings of various educational events - diploma exams, concerts of departments and faculties of the conservatory, many of which over time become rarities (like, for example, the recording of the exam of student vocalist Nikolai Gyaurov).
