The Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne ("Polish Music Publishing"), best known in English as PWM Edition, is one of the leading Polish music publishers, established in 1945 as the nation's first house and headquartered in Kraków. (See also the eponymous artist entry for relevant production & technical credits.) Nationalized in May 1946, the PWM was privately-owned between 2001 and 2016, again re-nationalized and currently operating under the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Since 2017, Daniel Cichy has been serving as the publisher's director and editor-in-chief. PWM is particularly renowned for printing Chopin's Wydanie Narodowe ("National Edition") and authoritative, complete editions of Mieczysław Karłowicz, Stanisław Moniuszko, and Karol Szymanowski, as well as works by countless other prominent Polish composers, including Grażyna Bacewicz, Tadeusz Baird, Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński, Józef Elsner, Wojciech Kilar, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and Kazimierz Serocki. Besides sheet music, Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne publishes a broad catalog of books, manuals, audiobooks, and other associated literature, as well as Ruch Muzyczny, a bi-weekly classical music magazine. Name variations: → PWM Edition → Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne S.A. → PWM, Kraków → Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne Kraków → PWM → P.W.M. → P. W. M. — Warszawa → Edition polonaise de musique → Polish Music Publications
