Barry Hankerson

Producer - songwriter - manager - record label owner Born in 1946. Founded and runs Blackground Records. He was once a television producer and a politician in Detroit, Michigan. He managed and produced The Winans At one time Hankerson was married to Gladys Knight. He is the uncle of the late R&B singer Aaliyah. Managed Aaliyah until 1995 when her dad took over as manager, but she remained on Blackground Records until her death in 2001. He has also managed Toni Braxton and R. Kelly
