Mark DeRose

Mark DeRose (ja. マーク・ディローズ) is a composer, arranger, drummer and percussionist, producer, music director, and educator from Sarasota, Florida, USA. From 1992 to 2006 he was a studio drummer/percussionist for Sony Japan, RCA Victor, Toshiba EMI, and Pony Canyon. In 1992, he founded the instrumental jazz ensemble "DANOBI", performing music from China, Japan and the USA. In 1995, he founded Rising Sun Records, Inc. During over 22 years working in Japan, Mark has recorded nearly 100 albums, including CDs, television and film soundtracks, and commercials. He has composed, arranged, and directed music for NHK Television (Japan's National Broadcasting Corporation), educational broadcasts, government-sponsored training videos, and animated soundtracks. Mark holds a Bachelor of Music degree in jazz composition and arrangement from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and studied classical percussion performance and music education at the Boston Conservatory of Music. Note the resemblance to namesake Mark DeRose, a children's musician, songwriter, guitarist, and artist based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. His band, Mark DeRose & The Dreadnoughts, plays blue-eyed soul and classic rock.
