김광석 (Kim Kwang-seok) is a South Korean guitarist, born in 1955 in Wonju, South Korea. He started his career in 1976 with the group He 5 (히파이브), filling the space left by Kim Hong Tak. In 1977, he started doing session work, and in 1978 he became a resident guitarist at a recording studio. He has participated on numerous recordings, with artists such as 조용필 (Cho Yong-Pil), 김현식 (Kim Hyun-sik), 전인권 (Jeon In-kwon), 이문세 (Lee Moon-se), and 신승훈 (Shin Seung-hoon).
He released his first solo album of instrumental music "The Confession" in 1995, followed by 비밀 (The Secret; 2003), 은하수 ("Milky Way"; 2008), and 구름 위에서 놀다 (Playing on Clouds; 2010). He received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation at the 1st Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards held in 2010.
