Polish-born pianist, composer, bandleader & label owner. Born Władysław Daniłowski April 26, 1902 in Warsaw, Poland. Died March 4, 2000 (aged 97) in Miami Beach, USA. A pioneer of jazz and tango in Poland, in the United States he is best known as a promoter of polka music. He wrote the score for the first Polish sound film. Founder of the Dana polka label. As a composer, he is best known for the song "Longing For You", lyrics by Bernard Jansen. The song charted 3 times in 1951--first by Teresa Brewer (#23), then by Swing and Sway with Sammy Kaye (#16), & finally by Vic Damone (#12). He also charted with "Who Stole the Keeshka?" by The Matys Brothers in 1963 (co-written by Walter Solek).
