Ezra Christian August Wickemeyer

American recording engineer (born March 25, 1893 in Richmond, Indiana – died August 24, 1956 in Reading, Ohio) Recording engineer for the Gennett label. In 1917, he worked for Gennett's New York studio. Between September 24, 1918 and January 13, 1919, he served in the military in World War 1, at last in Provisional Company C, Adjutant General's Department. After discharge, he returned to Richmond, Indiana, where he worked at Gennett's Starr Valley recording studio until 1927. There, he made Jazz history by recording jazz pioneers like Jelly Roll Morton and important early bands like King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band and The Wolverine Orchestra with Bix Beiderbecke.
