British singer, born on 6 December 1943 in Dagenham, Essex, England. After stints in Four + One and The In Crowd, he scored a huge hit in 1967 with Excerpt From "A Teenage Opera", collaborating with Mark Wirtz. (The opera was finally finished in 2002.) Also in 1967 he fronted Tomorrow, a seminal psychedelic band famously featuring later Yes member Steve Howe on guitar and Twink on drums. West composed most of their songs and had hem credited to his real name Keith Hopkins. From 1969 onwards, West embraced the west coast troubadour style made popular by the Byrds and CSNY, eventually releasing a solo album in Germany in 1974 and fronting the band Moonrider around 1975. He later turned his attention to producing music for the advertising industry. In 2021 Ian L. Clay published his official biography titled Thinking About Tomorrow (Excerpts From The Life Of Keith West).
