American coloratura soprano singer. Born March 12, 1913 in Birmingham, Alabama. Died August 2, 2005 in Studio City, California. Married to songwriter, arranger, and bandleader Gordon Jenkins, collaborating with him on numerous albums. She is the soprano who is heard singing the "Star Trek" theme during the opening credits of the original 1966 TV series.
