Camille Clerc

French musician Camille Clerc (Guitar, Bass, Vox, drum machines). Camille used the alias Monobulle before switching the moniker "Choc". Trivia: David Sztanke (Tahiti Boy) played live keys for Camille. After stopping her solo music carrier, Camille was an extended member of Tahiti Boy and The Palmtree Family, contributing lead & background vocals (appearing on the albums and/or on stage). "Choc" (ex Monobulle) aka Camille Clerc, initially devoted three years to the Gallantry trio (along Antoine Hilaire of Poney Poney / Jamaica & Gaspard Augé of Justice). An atypical music that explores the limits of the guitar-bass-drums formation, a music that is the matrix of Choc's instinctive approach to composition. In early 2003, the beginnings of a solo project revealed a desire to work on more personal compositions and the recording of a first demo, Music at Dawn, with the help of Jean-François Noyon (aka Soda Pop Kid). In January 2005, she followed up with a notable performance at the Scène Bastille and the opening act for Scénario Rock at the Maroquinerie. In March, she flew to New York, to brave the legendary venues CBGBs, the Knitting Factory, and a snowstorm. A new demo was recorded at Third Side Studios during the summer of 2005. The resulting EP explores the delicate path Choc has explored since her debut and offers a few additional avenues for a more pop-oriented sound, always on the edge. Alone on stage, Choc organizes her set around her guitar loops and ethereal vocals. «Choc», alias Camille Clerc, a d’abord consacré 3 ans au trio Gallantry (avec Antoine Hilaire de Poney Poney / Jamaica, et Gaspard Augé de Justice). Une musique atypique qui explore les limites de la formation guitare-basse-batterie, une musique matrice de l’approche instinctive de la composition de Choc. Début 2003, les ébauches d’un projet solo révèlent une envie de travailler sur des compositions plus personnelles et l’enregistrement d’une première démo, Music at Dawn, avec l’aide de Jean-François Noyon (aka Soda Pop Kid). En janvier 2005 elle enchaîne une prestation remarquée à la Scène Bastille et la première partie de Scénario Rock à la Maroquinerie. En mars elle s’envole pour New York, affronter les salles légendaires CBGBs, la Knitting Factory et une tempête de neige. Une nouvelle maquette est enregistrée dans les studios Third Side pendant l’été 2005. Le mini album qui en résulte creuse le sillon délicat que Choc a exploré depuis ses débuts et donne quelques pistes supplémentaires d’une musique plus pop, toujours sur le fil. Seule sur scène, Choc organise son set autour de ses boucles de guitare et de son chant aérien.
