Michael Hurst

Michael Hurst was born in 1925 in London. He studied in England then studied opera in Europe before starting a career in a music publishing business as an arranger and promotions manager. He came to Australia in 1964 and joined the australian broadcasting corporation, again as a music arranger and composer. His most famous work Swagman’s Promenade is a medley of Australian folksongs and melodies and was composed for the first series of Proms concerts in Sydney in 1965.
