Hank Wangford, is an English country and western singer and songwriter.
Samuel Hutt (born 15 November 1940), known by the stage name Hank Wangford. He studied medicine at Cambridge University and eventually became a doctor and played music on the side. His first writing credit (as Sam Hutt) was on a Sarah Miles 1965 single "Where Am I". His first recording was credited as Boeing Duveen And The Beautiful Soup with "Jabberwock"/"Which Dreamed It", issued in 1968. A chance meeting with former Byrds member Gram Parsons, who played him the song "You're Still on My Mind" (from the album Sweetheart of the Rodeo), led him to country music.
Hank has picked at the miserable underbelly of country music for twenty years, inspiring others like Billy Bragg, and many other alt.country musicians. He has spread the word with his two television series, "Big Big Country" and "The A to Z of C&W" and his books "Lost Cowboys" and "Hank Wangford Vol 3 The Middle Years".
