Original guitarist and founding member of indie rock band Young Fresh Fellows. Carroll moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Seattle in 1980 with Scott McCaughey, initially planning to start a music magazine. The pair began working for Seattle biweekly The Rocket and formed the band Young Fresh Fellows together.
