Edna Lewis

American songwriter and author best known for "Lipstick On Your Collar." Born July 28 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Lewis' chief musical collaborator was Beverly Ross. Her other popular-song compositions include "Judy's Turn to Cry", and "I Wish That We Were Married". Lewis was a songwriter who worked in New York during the peak of the “Brill Building era” of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Lewis composed the music with John Mitri Habash of 1963's "Folk Ballads from the World of Edgar Allan Poe".
