Gerald Keith Rogers
Keith Rogers (1943, Sussex — 21 January 2008, Yaxham, Norfolk) was a notable English maker of lip-reed woodwind instruments, such as oboes, cornetts, and serpents. He studied music at The University College Of North Wales in Bangor, Gwynedd, graduating in 1965 with a B.Hons. degree. Rogers spent many years in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where served as music director at two prestigious grammar schools; eventually, Keith trained as a woodwind-maker and relocated to London. In April 1992, Keith Rogers accepted the invitation of cornettist Jeremy West and joined Christopher Monk Instruments workshop in rural Norfolk, taking over as the senior maker after renowned Christopher Monk (1921—1991). Rogers spent the rest of his life making authentic historical woodwind replicas. He partnered with several prominent musicians, such as oboist Dick Earle and trombonist/trumpet player Douglas Yeo.
