Netherlands

Dutch 60's Indo rock/beat. The Black Albinos from The Hague were founded in the autumn of 1960 by Joop van Heusden. The group primarily played instrumental rock & roll with a lot of echo. They used various singers for their performances. The first lineup: Joop Jonkers (vocals, stage name Dean Holley), Joop van Heusden (lead guitar), Simon Lardenoy (bass guitar), Martin de Roo (drums), and Paul v.d. Voort Maarschalk (rhythm guitar, later in the Specials). Because only Joop van Heusden was noticeably blond, while the other members had dark hair, they came up with the unusual band name "The Black Albinos." In 1962, the group appeared on the radio program "Tot uw orders" (Tot Your Orders) and made their television debut on the program "Rooster." Also in 1962, the group signed a recording contract with Delta. Their first single was "Shish Kebab," with "St. Louis Blues" on the B-side. After this the band did not perform for some time. Discography goes from '62 till 2001 but they did not exist between '65 and '94
